My husband Eric has heard about my “failings” over and over again. I know you have them, too.
No matter how put together you feel–or don’t feel–there are moments every single day when you wonder why on earth you even try. (Yes, I’m not afraid to admit that.)
In this episode of Power of Moms Radio (going live the same day as the book launch for Your Children Want YOU!) I asked Eric to join me for a few a reasons:
(1) I wanted him to help me explain the book and share an excerpt with you.
(2) I wanted to hear his perspective on my latest failings.
(3) I wanted you to hear the advice that he gives me on a pretty much daily basis–advice that soothes my heart, calms my mind, and reminds me that seriously…everything is going to be okay.
Enjoy the episode, and be sure to check out the book page linked below–because it’s been FOUR YEARS, and this book is finally ready. I can’t wait for you to read it!
Your Children Want YOU! (the Book) is Ready!
In the podcast, Eric and I talked about my very first outline of the book that I created with a poster board and Post-it notes. Here’s the picture I said I would post:

There are so many things to love about this podcast. Thank you for sharing it. But honestly, one of the best parts was hearing the two of you banter and joke with each other. You love and support of each other is obvious. Thanks for being AWESOME!
Thank you so much, Karin! I think the world of you, and I am so glad this was helpful. What are you up to? Are you thinking of starting a podcast?
That would be so fun. I was thinking about that today actually. I’m beginning to plan our 5th annual Revival Recital. I’m so excited! Thanks for responding and I think it’s your birthday today. So Happy Birthday!
I was just feeling like I can’t do this (I’m a new, working mom of a 5 month old) because I forgot my breast pump at home this morning. Listening to podcast made me feel better. Being a mom and having to work full time sucks.
Hi Khyati,
We are so glad that you found Power of Moms. Like you, I have turned to POM’s podcasts for a mental boost during the day when I feel like I just can’t be the mom I want to be. Please know that you are not alone! Most mothers I know have days when they feel like they are being pulled in different directions and that they just aren’t enough. I sure do. Your baby is lucky to have a mom who listens to uplifting things in her spare time so she can be a better mother. 🙂 While your circumstances may not be what you want them to be, relish the time you have with your baby and do your best to focus on what you can control. Also…just know that you ARE in a hard situation and give yourself some grace if you can. Between hormones, lack of sleep, and transitioning to being a parent, new mothers have so much on their plates. You can do this! There are many more great resources on our site that can help. 🙂 While your situation may not be exactly the same here are a few you might like: https://powerofmoms.com/expanding-motherhood/, https://powerofmoms.com/what-we-must-never-forget/

Hope it was a better day today!! It is soooo hard some of those early days, and the little things we make mistakes on really feel heavy. I am sorry! This was such a good podcast for me too!
Khyati,
I completely understand. I have worked full-time since my youngest was three months (they are now 12 and almost 16). It is definitely hard, but it does get easier. A few things that helped me with the crazy mornings… 1) before bed I would make a list of everything I needed to do the next day or was on my mind. That helped me sleep much better. 2) I also have a routine where I put everything I need to take with me in one place so that I’m not having to think about what to grab on my way out the door. If that doesn’t work, maybe a quick checklist so that you can easily look over it to make sure you’ve got what you need.
As a new mom, we are so busy with the newness of everything that getting a much off my mind and onto paper really helped me.
We’re with you! Thanks for listening and reading. You’ll find a lot of great advice and tips with Power of Moms.
Hi Khyati,
I know what those days feel like. That’s why I love Power of Moms. I don’t feel so alone here when I have days where I feel that way. Every mom has days like this. I hope you can feel that you are not alone, especially here! The fact that you are deliberately taking time to renew yourself by listening to podcasts and working full time to take care of your family shows how much you love your family and your new little baby. Keep going mama! You’re doing great!
