Wow! What fabulous advice. Since I’ve been an avid follower, I’ve heard a few of these ideas before . . . .but it was so good to get a good review, plus some new ones. I especially loved the “decisions in advance” principle. I want to start role-playing situations with my kids and have them begin writing decisions down in a book, just like it was suggested. Thanks again!
This was fantastic. I listened while folding laundry and had to run and get a notebook to write ideas down. I hope to listen with my husband at a later time. I needed to hear the part about relaxing about the music lessons, I’ve been pushing one child kind of hard but what I really want is for him to learn to enjoy and apparel tat music and that isn’t going to happen by harping on him.
What a great podcast! I’m starting the Family Systems Training and this goes perfectly. Where can I find the 5 facet reviews that Richard mentioned of what he did for each child monthly? I admire your family so much! I love all the ideas you are sharing. I honestly have not thought about how to create a family culture. I’m looking forward to reading the book, The Entitlement Trap.
I LOVED that!!! Thank you!!!!! I am so inspired and motivated to take control of my family life instead of just letting it happen how it happens!
I listened to this podcast this morning and it spoke to my heart. I am loving all your podcasts. I feel like you are these mentors in my parenting life. I feel like I should take your podcasts a little more slowly, digest them, and put them in to practice. Then move onto the next. But after each one I feel like I just finished a chapter in a thrilling novel; I just can’t put it down. I feel like “I can do this!”
And I especially love hearing your parents’ perspective. I grew up in a “broken home” and didn’t have parents around much. I think we turned out well because of all the prayers of my mom. But that sometimes doesn’t help me to know what to do with my kids on the day-to-day. I hope someday I can offer similar advice for my own kids/grandkids because I was so involved and knew them so well.
You guys are quickly becoming my go-to parenting mentors. Thank you!!!
