I (April) have had some personal struggles over the past several months and years–particularly as I tried to do do more than one day’s share each day, and as I tried to combat a really mean voice in my head that was waking me up each morning.
I’ve finally found the solutions to these two challenges, and whether or not you struggle with the same kinds of things, I thought that perhaps my experiences could be helpful to you. Enjoy today’s episode, and please share your thoughts and comments below!
My before and after thought patterns:
This is explained more in the podcast, but in case it’s helpful to read it…
But THIS is from God:
Listen to the podcast for context on this! 🙂 Thanks so much for being with us!

I love this. Thank you for reminding me that He is in control. And that my limitations are useful for remembering who can handle it all, and to turn to Him.

This hit home big time! Thank you for sharing. I have pushed myself so hard for so many years that my health has failed and I have been in bed for a month now feeling like I’m completely failing. I didn’t even recognize that it was a mean voice I was hearing and that there is a completely other dialog that is truth that I should believe. Thank you!

I really resonated with the AHA for the underlying reason why you work so hard because it feels like by helping the world with the things your mom struggled with, somehow you’d be healing her. That is so me – a social/political advocate! Fortunately, I’m not feeling small or weighted by mean voices in my head, but I am feeling like there are not enough hours in the day to accomplish what I feel called to do. Thank you for sharing His words to you. So timely for me. Keep up the great work!

So glad this was helpful, Tracie! I love that you are doing good in the world. And I can SO understand the idea of “not enough hours.” I think the way we’ll know we’re expecting the right amount from ourselves is when we DO feel like there are enough hours–not to finish the job, but to make our unique contribution. 🙂 So glad you’re with us!!!

I listened to this podcast last week and have still been letting it sink in, so when I came across this passage in the Bible today, it jumped off the page! Mark 6:31
: “Then because so many people were coming and going that they [Jesus’s disciples] didn’t even have a chance to eat, he [Jesus] said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.'” I was reminded that Jesus recognized that His disciples had just experienced something major (the death of John the Baptist), and had continued to pour out and take care of business, so He 1) stopped them and invited them to spend quality time with Him in a solitary place, and 2) acknowledged that they needed rest! If you read on, this leads to an account of Jesus feeding a croud of thousands with a little boy’s sack lunch of five loaves of bread and two fish. ? But first, the disciples had asked Jesus what to do with so many hungry people, and Jesus basically said “go feed them”. It looks like a cruel joke: “come away and rest with Me… Except that thousands of people followed us out here… And now you have to feed them”– how much does that stink? I I feel like that so often as a mom–I can’t take a break, can’t rest, because the “consequence” is being left with more work to do than I had to begin with! But the story’s turning point us that after the disciples are told “you feed them”, they bring the little they DO have back to Jesus and surrender it to Him (not just trying to go pass out crumbs themselves), and the miracle of multiplication, the divine division, the impossible provision, happens! What I got from this was that first, God doesn’t expect me to just keep working, working, working harder, faster, more, more, more! No, I need to prioritize that time alone and resting with Him, and surrender the “little” time and energy I DO have left to Him, and know, like in April’s truth, that HE has the power to magnify and help along the way. Thanks for a great and super relevant podcast, as always!

Loved this episode– my kids were bouncing off the walls today, I was feeling like a total failure and was unable to recognize the negative patterns I was having until I listened to this episode once my husband got home and I went out on a little break! Thank you for the inspiration– it helped me turn my entire day around!

Hi April, I loooved you sharing the positive message from God. I also currently feel, that whatever I do, it won´t be enough, so that sometimes leaves me putting things off and not being productive.
I especially like the peace and calm coming from the prayer – that there is time for everything, even rest!
