I (April) first heard about The Happiness Project a few years ago when I met Gretchen Rubin in person at a couple of events. But when I opened her book last month and started to read, I knew I had to interview her on a Power of Moms podcast. (Now I’m so excited to share our conversation!)
Here are a few of the reasons I love Gretchen:
(1) She’s a reader . . . and a thinker. We talked about how she makes time to read, what kinds of books she loves, and how she recommends mothers make more time for the activities that fuel them.
(2) Gretchen values the ordinary. Her books aren’t all about the “extra” stuff we need to do in order to finally become happy. Instead she focuses on ways we can take things we’re already doing–and just make them a little better.
(3) She helps me to breathe. We talked a lot about building margin into our lives, being patient with ourselves, clearing clutter, and creating space. I love these ideas. They empower me.
So listen to the podcast and then share your thoughts. What helps you to feel happier as a mother?

I really enjoyed this podcast! Anytime I have a chance (during errands, picking the kids up from school, cleaning, etc…) I’m loving listening to your podcasts. It makes me feel “happy” and better about myself; it glves me new insight and perspective; it gives me real techniques that I can use throughout my day; and helps me remember to try to be mindful and be deliberate. I can’t wait to get both of Gretchen Rubin’s books. Thanks POM for all your hard work. I’m really glad to be apart of something so special and I truly appreciate it!
