Recording this podcast with Katrina Kenison was honestly a dream come true.
For years, I (April) have read her books, followed her blog, and taken courage from her wise, wise words.
She’s helped me to slow down, to see the value of my work, and to experience true contentment in motherhood.
Now, in her book, Magical Journey, she shares deeply and vulnerably about this new stage of her life.
Whether, like Katrina, your children have “left the nest” or whether you’re still in the midst of diaper changes and high-chair feedings, I guarantee that the thoughts and ideas you’ll have when you listen to this interview will inspire and encourage you on your path of deliberate motherhood.

This is my new favorite book! I just finished it a couple weeks ago and it has to be the most beautiful memoir I have ever read. The wisdom and peace that she shares changed my life. There were so many passages that I had to underline for the sheer beauty and truth in them. I took the book to the gym a number of times and had to get off my machine to walk over to get a pencil from the front desk so that I wouldn’t forget to mark them!
I am now reading her book “The Gift of an Ordinary Day” and plan to give both of these books as gifts to my mother, sisters, and friends this year.
I found Katrina’s Gift of an Ordinary Day a couple of years ago when I was working at the book fair at my children’s school. I read it, loved it and had to chase down Mitten Strings for God to read as well. Thank you Paperback Swap! I only wish is found the first book much earlier when my older kids were young, but I’m thankful to have read them. They are beautiful and I look forward to reading Magical Journey!
I am the mother of two teenage boys, one soon-to-be teenage daughter, and a sweet eight-year-old who I wish desperately would just stop growing up! I listened to this podcast while hiking this morning, and what a blessing it was! I related to everything! For me, the letting-go process and the ache of change are like ever present undercurrents in the midst of the joy of family life. I am definitely going through that “what now?” stage… and it’s so much harder than I thought I would be. Thanks again for another great podcast. I can’t wait to read all of Katrina’s books.
