Nia Vardalos is widely known for her role in the hit movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding (which she also wrote!). And now, as the author of Instant Mom and the mother to her beautiful adopted daughter, she is also the spokesperson for National Adoption Day.
When Mary Jenkins, board member at Power of Moms, heard that Nia had written and released a book, she wanted to read it. But when she heard that the book recounted the story of how Nia came to adopt her daughter through American foster care, she knew she HAD to read it. (Mary was adopted herself and has also cared for foster children in her home.)
Join Mary Jenkins, April Perry, and Nia Vardalos in this powerful podcast where they will discuss
- how Nia’s passion for spreading the word about adoption is inspiring families worldwide
- why Nia thinks the book’s message is resonating so well (it won the Mom’s Choice Gold Award)
- how Nia felt when she met her daughter for the very first time
- how motherhood compares to the “Hollywood” life
- why “being a fearless idiot is the best way to approach life,” and
- what Nia would recommend to other mothers who are considering the adoption process
But whether you are interested in adopting yourself or not, Nia’s inspirational message of love, faith, and hope is universal to all. It was an absolute pleasure to get the chance to have her on this Power of Moms podcast.
