In this episode, April and Saren share ideas to help you “run away” regularly through simple and regular breaks – be they 10 minutes long or overnight. By taking breaks, you can steer yourself away from more desperate and serious urges to run away.

Saren, April – Thank you so much for this podcast — simply because you acknowledged moms need to run away – and often. As a mother, this one trait saved my marriage and my parenting and me – I stopped trying to be superwoman and allowed everything except nutrition and safety to drop — and today listening to you I realized how spot-on you both, are. The incredible thing about your podcast was when April said she didn’t want to buy more clothes – just a couple of priceline deals to help her! I often wonder what I’m doing to show myself I care – and I have the answer! I’m still getting there. Thank you so much for talking about this part of parenting that has been so tricky yet so crucial. You are both incredible and so fortunate to have access to your podcasts!
And yes, Im a mom with a preschooler! 🙂
This was just what I needed to hear! Thank you for your practical tips and advice, as usual. And April, your sweet story of sharing your book with your mom made me teary. What a gift. Congratulations!
This podcast resonated with me more than any other I have heard from you guys before (which is saying something as many have been exactly what I needed to hear). Tears streamed down my face as I listened to this podcast while running on the treadmill, at our gym that has amazing childcare. I laughed at the mention of a friend who had her favorite chocolate stashed in her closet, as I have one of those stashes too!
I really love the idea of getting away and staying at a hotel by myself, I hope I can make it work for me to do that sometime soon. Our family would benefit from that so much.
And it was so good for me to hear that even you, April and Saren, who in my mind are so well put together and on top of this whole motherhood thing, need to “run away”.
Thank you.
Thank you for this beautiful podcast. I needed to hear this tonight. I will be blessing myself with a break tomorrow.
This was so wonderful. Thank you so much for being vulnerable and sharing your struggles! Knowing two amazing ladies/moms like yourselves sometimes need to run away made me feel better about the times I feel a need to run away. Power of Moms is such a blessing in my life. Thank you.
One of my favorite podcasts. Thank you!
I am that Mom you talked to at Target! 🙂 I called my sister the next day and told her where I saw you and how I dared tell you that I had run away. I told her how I wished I could go home with you, too! She laughed and then sent me a text last week with the link to this podcast and said…”she’s talking about you!” I listened to the first part right away and it has taken me a full week to listen to the entire podcast, but here I sit at 10:56 on a Friday night when I finally had a quiet minute to finish it. THANK YOU for validating my need and my feelings of running away and for cheering me up in the Produce Section of Target!! Your daughter was so sweet too. I was so grateful for how real you were (& are!), for the stories you shared about having the same feelings as me, and for telling me that it’s ok to take a break. This podcast warmed my heart and I’ll make sure to tell my cute hubby that my “running away” inspired a whole podcast that is encouraging all moms out there to have a well deserved break, no matter what it is! See you at Target ladies 🙂
I’ve only listened to the first 3 minutes. Thank you! I need to share this and listen again & again.
