Title: Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom
Basic Overview: I started writing these lines with the intention of sharing the many secrets I’ve learned about working from home and raising children. The more I got into it, the more I realized I was sharing my innermost insecurities about being a mother.
After sharing a few pages of this manuscript with a friend, she began to list her insecurities as well, and they seemed to match mine, almost identically. It was then that I realized I’m less alone than I thought. There are a lot of moms out there, just like me who are afraid that everything they are doing to raise the next generation of the human race may very well be wrong.
As moms we all have these fears, and most of us aren’t willing to face them, and a lot of times we aren’t willing to share them with others. My hopes in writing these pages is that perhaps another mom will read them, and they will feel comforted by the fact that they are not alone in raising their family, having a career, maintaining an identity and other fears that we face.
I truly hope that I am able to share with you at least one confession of my own, that will help you as you work to raise your precious children and work towards your dreams.
Parts I Liked Best: As the author I’m somewhat biased, but I’d likely lean towards the chapter on being underqualified. Mothers these days seem to think they have to be perfect in all that they do, and that somehow when they become a mother, they’ll magically have this sense of what to do and what not to do. I like being able to share with new mothers that they are not alone, that motherhood is a learning process – and that’s okay.
How This Book Made an Impact In My Life, Especially as a Mother (or why I just really liked it): The one thing that has been told to me by readers is that it opens their eyes and hearts to the fact that there are other moms out there with insecurities and fears about the job they are doing. This book lets them know it’s okay to feel insecure about your role as mom, and it’s okay to sometimes want to explore your role as a person who has children. We are all unique, and all were unique before we had children. That part of us is meant to be shared with our children, not hidden simply because we became mothers.
