Title: Three Weeks with My Brother
Author: Nicholas Sparks and Micah Sparks
Genre: Memoir
Basic Overview:
This is not Nicholas Sparks’ usual love story. It is a memoir written with his brother of their adventurous three-week trip around the world together. As they travel, they reflect on their life growing up and how their experiences affected each of them in different ways.
Parts I Liked Best:
I liked when the author talks a little about when he was working on his other books. It was interesting to see how the story lines for some of his famous novels began from small experiences in his own life.
How This Book Made an Impact In My Life, Especially as a Mother (or why I just really liked it):
I like to get a little perspective in my life. This book helped me see the trials in someone else’s life, without being depressing. It helped me see how others overcome a difficult life, and deal with things, often humorously. The Sparks’ lives were full of tragedy, but they are both successful people with full lives. It has also made me reflect on the perspective you use to view your past-the boys often remember things slightly differently based on their experiences–what am I remembering that may not be quite accurate?
