I would ask myself, “But how? How can I make it every day with pain that is so deep and dark? How do I keep going?” I soon realized I did not have to take it day by day. I could simply do minute by minute, slowly working through the cycle of grief while holding onto hope for a better tomorrow.
We have a zero-tolerance policy in my house when it comes to kindness to each other. But have I taught my kids that the same rules apply on the playground, in a friend’s home, at school, and even in the forever-long checkout line?
Unfortunately, trials in life don’t wait for the right season or holiday to pass before coming. Many experience difficult challenges during what is supposed to be “the most wonderful time of the year.”
