I am not exaggerating when I say that we cannot do without this designated Family Time now. It is sacred and precious, and requires nothing but showing up. I had no idea anything about parenting could be this easy.
“The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.” So says Albert Einstein, but daily life as a mother of small children sure seems to contradict this. It feels exactly like all the events in the universe are happening right in your living room…
Our lives are determined by our intentions. I am no longer the frazzled, “busy” mom I once was. Instead, I now try each day to pause, to create, and to intentionally be the mother I want to be.
In that moment, when I let go of my reactivity and let empathy take over, love happens. Active, useful, healing love. That is motherhood at its best: giving our children that gift of understanding when it is least “deserved,” but most desperately needed.
“…with three young children going into three different classrooms this fall, life isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. So I have started to ponder, even in the middle of the chaos, ‘How can I make developing priorities a priority?’”
