- The Power of Sharing Ideas: What Works
A1. Decide to be happy for people who do have nice things. You do not need to compare yourself with others. Everyone is different (whether in their family situations, education, jobs, willingness to go into debt, etc.), and some people will just have more than you. It may take some time, but it is healthier to learn to accept that fact instead of insisting that you need to keep up with everyone else.
A2. Keep a gratitude journal.
A3. Realize that your worth as a person is not dependent on "things." Develop your strengths (things that money cannot buy), and whenever you begin to feel envious of someone else, remind yourself of all of the things you do/have/are that make you special, regardless of your income.
