Behind on spring cleaning?

Okay, so I'm a little behind on spring cleaning. I guess better late than never, right? Where do I begin? Where do you begin? I usually start with the cupboards. I go through and notice some of the items are mismatched, some plates are broken, and the serving pitcher is cracked. Then I start to think back and wonder, "When did all this happen?"
After some time and careful consideration, I find all the right colors and styles of the items I need. They're practical, not too expensive, and beautiful to look at. Once everything is said and done, I sit back and admire how beautiful everything looks inside my new cupboard.
Now, take a minute-how are your cupboards? Are things mismatched, broken, or is everything just a big ol' mess?
How about this...think of your life as a cupboard. Do you have anything that is mismatched? Sometimes, we unknowingly pick and choose to follow certain spiritual princples rather than others. Maybe we're not spending quality time with our children or reading the scriptures daily. Maybe it's because some principles require more time or effort. In any event, before you know it, you have yourself a set of mismatched values.
Is anything broken in your cupboard?
How about....are you praying daily? We should pray daily to ensure we don't break that 2-way communication with our Heavenly Father. We all know, the longer you go without repairing something, the harder it is to fix later. So, be mindful that you don't break this one.
Lastly, is your cupboard just a big ol' mess?
If it is, just revamp everything and start over. Make sure nothing is mismatched and that nothing is broken. Then, when everything is said and done, you'll be able to sit back and admire how beautiful your new cupboard looks.

That's a good parallel...it's nice to know that when we're doing the day-to-day stuff, we can look at how it relates to our lives as a whole. When my habits (and my cupboards) are in order, life is just a whole lot happier!
