Married for 15 years to a wonderful, caring husband, Brad. I have an 11 year old daughter, Maddie. She is such a joy to have in my life. I also have an 8 year old son, Sean, who makes me smile with his inquisitive mind about the world we live in. I remember it very clearly-it was my day off from work and I was making dinner when I heard my husband enter through the front door. That's when I saw it! In his hand he held a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Now, you need to understand this...my husband is not a flower giving kind of guy so this was HUGE! It wasn't our anniversary and it wasn't my birthday so what was with the flowers? He said he knew I had a hard week and it was just his way of saying, "I love you and thank you for all you do".
What a sweet moment that was and what made it even sweeter was the moment that followed right after.
My eyes began to swell with tears as I was overcome with emotion at my husbands thoughtfulness and kindness. My son didn't quite understand what was happening so he asked, "Why are you crying?" I told him it was a very special thing to receive flowers from someone you love. He looked at me with his big brown eyes and simply replied, "oh". He then turned around and left the room. The next thing I knew my son was running inside with a little yellow flower. Without saying a word, he raised up his little arm and while holding the bud he placed it in my hands. As my eyes were overflowing with tears, I knelt down to give him the biggest hug I could. My husband, the man I love, taught my son a valuable lesson that day. I know that day, that memory, will always have a special place in my heart. For it's on that day, that the two men I love so dearly, both gave me flowers.
