Title: The Sparkle Box: A Gift with the Power to Change Christmas
Author: Jill Hardie, Illustrated by Christine Kornacki
Basic Overview:
This delightful children’s book reinforces the spiritual meaning of Christmas with a sweet story and beautiful illustrations. The story follows a little boy named Sam, who’s mother places a sparkle box on the mantle a few weeks before Christmas. He is told that it’s a special gift that the family will open on Christmas, but first they need to fill it.
Throughout the season, Sam and his family perform acts of service such as taking food and blankets to the homeless. As Sam begins to notice the plight of others, he takes advantage of an opportunity to give a gift from the heart.
On Christmas morning, Sam is most excited to open the Sparkle Box. Inside he learns about the gifts that his family have given the Savior on His Birthday.
How This Book Made an Impact In My Life, Especially as a Mother (or why I just really liked it):
This book has become a fast favorite with my children. I love that it opens their eyes to others less-fortunate during the holiday season. Best of all, the book includes your own sparkle box so you can start the tradition with your family. My children have already noticed opportunities to serve and asked to add to our sparkle box.
Would you like your very own copy of The Sparkle Box for next year’s Christmas seasons? We have one copy to give away! Leave a comment for a chance to win! The giveaway will close at midnight on January 5th, 2013 and the winner will be notified by email.

This book sounds wonderful and this Christmas, even after doing things to better focus the real meaning, one of our sons said, “I didn’t get very much presents this year.” Time to implement even more thoughtful service that they have a part of. Thank you for sharing.

I’d LOVE to win a copy of The Sparkle Box! We’re still early in the tradition collecting stage of life for our little family. Having a chance to review this book, well before next Christmas season, sounds perfect!
