Hey Everyone!
I have compiled a list of books which I feel like are fabulous books for teaching honesty to children. I am eager to share my ideas as well as hear yours about which book you would add to the list. I am still on the search for books for older children….if you have any you feel would be worth adding to the list, let me know or leave it in a comment below. Happy reading! J
The Big Fib
The Boy Who Cried Wolf
The Empty Pot – Demi
The Berenstain Bears and the Truth
The Berenstain Bears and the Excuse Note
Mr. Peabody’s Apples – Madonna
The Emperor’s New Clothes
Sniffles – Stephen Cosgrove
Horton Hatches an Egg – Dr. Seuss
The Red Racer – Audrey Wood
Jamaica’s Find
The Honest to Goodness Truth – Patricia McKissack
Ruthie and the (not so) Teeny Tiny Lie
Pedrito’s Day
Edward Fudwupper Fibbed Big
Pinky Promise: A Book about Telling the Truth
Don’t Tell a Whopper on Fridays!: the Children’s Truth-Control Book
I’m Telling the Truth: A First Look at Honesty
A Big Fat Enormous Lie
My Big Lie – Bill Cosby
Sam Tells Stories
Honesty – Brite music (this is a book/CD combo)
Alexander’s Amazing Adventures – Honesty (also a book/CD combo)
Just a little sidenote….I love both Brite music and Alexander’s Amazing Adventures! They are great for the car and also for bedtime. I pop the CD in when my kids are falling asleep several times a week. What a great way for them to wind down! I love that they are falling asleep while thinking about a value rather than hearing me say, “Go to sleep,” over and over.
Good luck everyone! Can’t wait to see what you add to my list!

I had a friend share a couple additional books with me last week. I haven’t read them, but she said her 7-year-old son loves them. They are not specifically for honesty, but teach about many values throughout the book. They are “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” and “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”. Thanks for the fantastic suggestions! Let me know if there are any more good books I’ve missed!
